Welcome to Back On Course Scotland
Back on Course ran in Scotland from January 2013 – 31 July 2017. During this four year project we provided a free, impartial information, advice and guidance service for early leavers from Higher Education in Scotland and carried out research with these leavers to improve understanding of the early leaver experience.
The project worked in partnership with ten Scottish universities: Robert Gordon, Queen Margaret, Edinburgh Napier, Abertay, Glasgow Caledonian, and Heriot-Watt Universities, plus the Universities of Highlands and Islands, West of Scotland, Stirling and Aberdeen, to offer their leavers the opportunity to reflect and focus on their next steps back into studying at university or to other positive outcomes such as college, training or employment. We were also open to leavers from all Scottish universities.
The project was delivered by The Open University in Scotland and funded by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC). It was endorsed by the National Union of Students Scotland (NUS Scotland) and Skills Development Scotland (SDS).
The research findings will be included in the end of project report due to be published in November 2017. You can read or download a copy of the report here. [coming soon]
